The essence of Prayer is to ask for divine intervention in all spheres of human encounters. It is good to pray to any divine power that one believes in. I believe in the omnipotent God. Dear reader my aim is not to find out who you believe in but my focus is to ask each and every one to pray for peace in our community.  A trusted friend told me that when he set foot in America in 1979 he could virtually count the number of Ghanaians who lived in Chicago!! However such cannot be said of Ghanaians now living in the windy city.

Obviously a lot of factors have come into play in our rapid multiplication and constant growth. Take a look at our gathers these days and you will see what I am driving at, you are bet to meet a host of Ghanaians who have come to realize the American dream. The youth make up a good portion of the growth and this is a guarantee that we will continue to grow and multiply.

The concern to yours truly is the rapid deterioration of the decency with which our young ones carry themselves in our functions. I found myself in one of these get -together and that is where I believe that one needs the strong intervention of a divine force to protect you from temptation!!.  My dear reader the dancing and body movement emanating from our young ones at these functions are troubling!  Ei!! The youth have resorted to dirty dancing on the dancing floors to the discomfort of a few decent ones who have no choice but to look on as the choreography  unfolds! The interesting scenario is that the young ladies resort to “buddy” dancing and  the young men also gracefully take advantage of that and also make the best of the “micro” situations with their body movements and hands. Lord have mercy!!

The atmosphere becomes so charged that it sometimes takes an electrical discontinuity which causes the music to seize and an apology from the DJ to break these dirty dancers apart.
I once overheard a young married man who was being tormented by these dancers lamented   “Ah..hmm if only marriage was a like a drivers license, I would have to renew every year and decide if I want to continue or break my marriage.... I turned to him and sympathized with the dear brother. These young ones are dangerous! Another troubled brother lamented thus : “ Ei if this is how these girls are dancing in the light than how will they dance in the dark! I turned over to the brother and looked at his eyes and replied ...let us pray!. the lord is our shepherd!....This is troubling.

I am pretty sure a lot of people share my concern and therefore understand what I am saying. We need to pray for strength and guidance since the tendency of these young girls leading men into temptation is quite high. Some of us have committed our lives, and therefore  find these dirty dancing really troubling and tempting. The scary part is that we have to live with it as long as we go out there and party with friends. These young girls will continue to torment and daze the young and old men with their moves. The older men will have to hold their breathe or close their eyes for fear of a heart attack due to the excitement, the young unmarried men obviously have it all going and excited while  the young married men will continue to be tormented and can only overcome through prayer. Let the Lord be your shepherd.

The young ones are really hitting the ball out of the ballpark and there is no stopping now. The young females are causing havoc on the dancing floor which makes all of us around them affected.  They seem to enjoy all the attention they are getting on the floor and more! Why does it always have to be that way?  Is it true women are that powerful?? Maybe the answer lies in Hurricane Katrina!!!!   Let us pray.
